in an awful grump
who searched and searched

This is the bear
all cold and cross
who did not think
he was really lost.

This is the dog
who smelled the smell
of a bone and a tin
and a bear as well.

who drove them home -
the boy, the bear
and the dog with the bone.

This is the bear
all lovely and clean
who did not say
just where he had been.

This is the boy
who knew quite well,
but promiced his friend
he would not tell.

And this is the boy
who woke up in the night
and asked the bear
if he felt all right -
and was very surprised
when the bear shouted out,
'How soon can we have
another day out?'

О песне

Lavender's Blue is a traditional song often used as a lullaby. It is not known who it was written by or when, but it dates back to at least the 1680s. Like many lullabies it has probably been passed down through generations and has changed every time. There are as many as thirty verses to the song, for example an alternative opening is "Lavender's blue, dilly dilly, rosemary's green"

Secret Seahorse

I saw a secret seahorse
Deep down in the sea.
I tried to swiim beside him.
He was too quick for me.

He swam past reefs of coral,
With colours flower bright.
He swam past flickering fishes,
Then disappeared from sight.

I asked the octopuses
Where he might have gone.
They just shrugged and shook their legs.
I steadily swam on.

I came across a mermaid,
As she combed her hair.
I found an acient shipwreck,
but couldn't see him there.

At last I found a secret cave!
It looked so dark and dim,
I stayed outside and shivered.
I did not dare go in.

Then in the cave a saw a glint,
And guess who greeted me?
Not just one secret horse -
A whole seahorse family!

One mother hen sat on 4 little eggs,

Then one day she heard a crack
